Martha Evelyn DeHart Dean, born March 1, 1947, went home to be with the Lord on September 26, 2014. She was a native of Buncombe County, living in the Asheville area until residing in Mars Hill the past several years. Martha was the daughter of the late Creed Forrest and Ruth Taylor Dehart. She retired from UNC Asheville following twenty five years of service in the Financial Operations Division. She was a member of Times of Refreshing Ministries, having been active in music ministry which she loved. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by a brother, Gary C. DeHart.
Martha is survived by her husband, Arnold William Dean and step daughter, Tara Ann Dean; Aunts, Beatrice and Agnes Taylor of Asheville; several beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, her church family, friends and Tracy Boone who was like a daughter.
A service will be held 6:00pm, Tuesday, September 30, at Robbie Capps memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service. Pastors Rachel Floyd and Glenn Burrell will officiate. A private burial will take place on Wednesday, Oct 1 at California Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
